After years of betting on the horses I decided it was time to change my approach. I'd usually make my picks to win, back them and then place additional bets through the day as I was watching the racing on top of this I'd usually be follow 2-3 tipsters on top. Some days I was placing 10-15 bets per day and although I had success, mainly with my own picks, a losing day was a big hit to the bank. I didn't want to change what I love and that is looking for winners using all the knowledge and form reading techniques I've picked up over the 15+ years I've spent following this sport but what I did want was a more measured approach to my staking. First step was to ditch the tipsters that were barely breaking even, then my initial plan was to make my picks and limit my betting though the day but I didn't think this was enough, I needed a plan, something I could track, something that if I had a losing day wouldn't make as big an impact on the bank. My name is David Allen, I've been backing horses for over 15 years and I like nothing more than ending a day in profit. I don't really mind how I get there, but ending a day in profit from my own research and analysis gives me a buzz. There really is nothing better than picking a winner, especially when you go against the favourite. After re-thinking my strategy over Christmas and New Year, what I came up with was my 4 Point Plan and it's pretty simple. Stake a maximum of 4pts per day. Pick my best 3 win bets for the days racing and back them all to win with level 1pt stakes on each. So where does the 4th point come in Dave? This was my breakthrough, I decided to back all 3 as a treble, not to win but to place. That way if every selection came close but didn't win, I could still win. Of course if all 3 lost and 1 didn't place I'd not see a return, but I'm limiting my exposure to 4pts per day. Limiting my betting like this has also lead to me staking more on each bet. I've gone from a £10 punter spreading the bets all over the place to £25 stakes on each bet and because of the 4pt plan it means most days I'm spending the same or less than before. So how have I got on since changing to my 4pt Plan, take a look at the results since I implemented in January this year.... Monday 5th Jan Day 1 and what a day to start, all racing abandoned! Tuesday 6th Jan
1 winner on the day at short odds and 2/3 on the place treble. Nalas Dream finished 4th, just 1 place why of landing the first place treble. End result was a loss of -£40.65 (-1.626pts) Wednesday 7th Jan
No winners today but we went one better than yesterday with the place bets and landed the treble. Despite no winners we made a profit of £48.08, doing exactly what I wanted the system to go. 2 days in and a profit of £7.43 (+0.297pts) Thursday 8th Jan
A big day today, almost perfect with Mymayaz finishing 3rd but 2 winners and a place treble means a profit on the day of £345.35 After just 3 days my bank was starting to grow. Up £352.78 (+14.111pts) Friday 9th Jan
Just a single win today but another £50 profit taking us above £400 to £402.80 (+16.112pts) Saturday 10th Jan
I didn't think this week could get much better and after Headshot only managed 5th in my first I did wonder if I would add any profit to end the week. Well my picks delivered and 2 more winners were banked. £125 profit on the day taking me to £527.80 (+21.112pts) I've never been a guy who bets on Sunday's, although when I get chance I do watch the racing, so I ended my week there. Over 20pts profit on the week and after a no-bet day on Monday too. Was it just luck or am I onto something? The Place Treble turned a losing day into a winning day on Wednesday and added to the profit on Thursday. Meaning 4/5 days ended in profit, with no day being a complete washout (I know those days will come but if the place treble saves a few of these along the way then I'll be one happy man. Heading into week 2 I was excited to say the least.. Monday 12th Jan
What a start to the week, 2 winners and the place treble landing for a nice £152.22 profit (+6.088pts) Roll on Tuesday Tuesday 13th Jan
Our first wipe out! No wins, 2/3 horses placing with Piaff Bubbles fnishing 5th. £100 loss on the day (4pts) which is the worst a day can be for me with my new strategy Wednesday 14th Jan
Micks Spirit in the 2nd ensured we were back to profitable ways and Dubai Harbour delivered the final place to increase the profit on the day. End results was a £117.87 profit on the day, taking us to £170.09 profit on the week (+6.803pts) Thursday 15th Jan
Just the one win today which also saw our only place of the day too. Another day of profit though with £18.75 to add to the bank. 4 days in and we're up £188.84 (+7.553pts) Friday 16th Jan
Seahouses placed which was a nice start to the day and then things got even better with 2 nice winners. A lovely £584.28 profit on the day taking us to £773.22 on the week (+30.928pts) Saturday 17th Jan
Cerendipity finished down in 6th but Brentford Hope winning means we ended a very nice week with some more profit. £87.50 profit after Watermelon Sugar was withdrawn from the race means we end the week with £860.72 profit (+34.428pts) 5/6 days ending in profit with the place treble landing on 3 occasions. 2 Week Breakdown 12 betting days (no bets on Sunday) Monday 5th Jan +/- £0.00 Monday 12th Jan +£152.22 That's a total of £1,388.40 profit or (+55.536pts) I know 2 weeks is only a very short period of time and the true profitability of this strategy will be proven over much longer but I want to give a small amount of people access so you too can follow along with the bets and see for yourself how well the service performs. If you like the sound of backing winners, covering them with a place treble and seeing your bank grow, then sign up below to take this for a trial with me...
This weeks results... Monday 19th Jan
Just the one win to start the week but a profit of £37.50 (+1.5pts) Tuesday 20th Jan
Sea Legend didn't win but the place kept the treble alive and what followed was 2 more winners, meaning 3/4 winning bets on the day for a nice £258.33 profit on the day (+10.333pts) That takes us to £295.83 profit on the week (+11.833pts) Wednesday 21st Jan
High Chieftain missed out by a single place which would have landed a great place treble. Close but no cigar. Bathgate winning ensured a profit on the day of £100. That takes us to £395.83 profit on the week (+15.833pts) Thursday 22nd Jan
Not our day today. The Long Walk didn't run as I expected and ended up pulling up. Annandale finished 3rd and Concert Boy just missed out on the top 3 finishing 4th. £100 loss on the day, takes us back to £295.83 profit on the week (+11.833pts) Friday 23rd Jan
Bad one today making it back to back days with no returns for the first time. I expected this to happen at some point but with how the winners have been landing recently didn't expect it so soon. Just A Memory pulled up in the first, Eldeyaar didn't trouble the places finishing 7th and it was only one better for Coramento. £100 loss on the day, takes us to £195.83 profit on the week (+7.833pts)
